Our Fosters are Full! Learn Three Ways to Help

The families that help foster our adoptable dogs and cats are currently full and unable to take any more incoming pets for the Animal Protection and Education Charity. This means we are unable to accept any other pets as we have nowhere to safely or legally keep them at this time.

The good news is we have many ways that you can help! Please read the three main steps you can take to help us thrive as an animal care clinic and to continue offering the best care that we possibly can.

Three Ways to Help our Fosters

Here is how to help our foster pets and their foster families:

  1. Help current pets get adopted
    Share our Blogs
    Share our Facebook Posts
    Share our Petfinder
  2. Become a foster home for future pets
    – Prepare to be a foster home
Apply to be a foster home
  3. Donate to the Animal Protection and Education Charity
    Donate Directly
    Donate Items
    Buy a Shirt
    Shop Amazon Smile
    – Donate Cans

1. Help Current Fosters Get Adopted

One of the most effective ways of helping our foster pets is to help our current adoptables find their “furever” homes. Finding a permanent home for our adoptables is our goal, but we also need foster families to house our patients during their care.

2. Become a Foster Mom / Pop

Prepare to become a foster home for animals
You can prepare to help us by becoming a foster home for any possible incoming pets from our clinic. We have some guidelines and standards for our fosters which you can read on our Foster Applicants page. There are also laws and regulations on foster situations so do your research and prepare your home for future furry ones to inhabit it. Please review section 21—67.14(162) In-home facilities of the Agriculture and Land Stewardship Department Chapter 67, “Animal Welfare,” Iowa Administrative Code for additional details.

Apply to Become a foster home for APE
If your house and home are prepared to become a foster parent and you meet all of the guidelines, you can apply by filling out the application on our website from our Adoption/ Foster / Volunteer Applications Page. If you have any questions about fostering please contact us via email at united4ape@gmail.com.

3. Donate to the Animal Protection and Education Charity

Donate Directly
You can offer your support to help get our adoptable pets into homes and to help maintain them during their foster care by making a monetary donation directly to our charity. There are two ways to give monetary donations, you can donate via Paypal or you can mail your monetary donations to:

Animal Protection and Education
801 W Mamie Eisenhower Ave
Boone, IA 50036

Donate Items
There are various items that our charity is always in need of. A list of these items can be found on our website or you can view the APE Holiday Amazon Smile Wishlist. You can ship or drop off these items directly to our location address above. Please be sure to call us at 515-460-7729 so that we can be available for a no-contact delivery pick up.

Buy a Shirt
Our charity offers two purchasable Neuter Your Pets T-shirts via TeeSpring where 100% of the profits go to the clinic. The T-shirts come in a variety of sizes and colors and sport a clever logo encouraging spaying and neutering of all furry friends. Click the links below to view the T-shirt designs:

Use Amazon Smile
You can support APE every time you use your amazon account. Whenever you visit Amazon instead go to smile.amazon.com. Be sure to set APE as your charity of choice by going into your settings to Change Your Charity and type Animal Welfare Services Boone into the search.

Donate Cans at our Pop-can Cage
Do you have recyclable cans you’re willing to save and bring to our location? If so, we have a pop-can cage where we will recycle the cans and use the proceeds from the can donations for the clinic. Here are some instructions for optimizing this type of donation:

  • Do not mix glass with other containers of aluminum or plastic.
  • Only include regular recyclables that have a can deposit.
    • We cannot accept other recyclables that do not have a deposit (e.g. orange juice containers, vegetable cans)
  • Recyclables are accepted in any type of bag, but it makes things easier on our team if donations are in the ‘pre-counted’ types of bags you can get from the local redemption center

Thank you for considering helping the Animal Protection and Education Charity. Spread the word, donate today, or become a foster home and together we’ll continue doing the greatest job we can!
